Playing cards is one of the most common and
popular past times around the world. You won’t believe it, but the origins of
card games can be traced back to the 9th century China. Soon enough,
the deck of cards made its way to Europe and the rest was history. The
possibilities of games with a deck of 52 cards are endless. One of the appeals
of card games is that they require wit, luck and a bit of psychology. Here are
some of the most popular and classic card games.

Classic card games
- Poker. Poker is a betting card game where the winner is determined depending on the combination of cards.
- Texas Hold ‘em. This game is a popular variation of the Poker game but it requires more math knowledge and psychological analysis.
- Blackjack. Commonly known as 21, this is a game of luck where players have to aim to get a hand with a score of 21 or less.
- Bridge. Bridge is a slightly more complex game that requires two teams. The point of the game is to bid and score the maximum amount of points.
- Gin Rummy. This card game is faster in comparison to other classic card games. Each player gets 10 cards and the objective is to get 3 cards of the same rank or 4 cards in a sequence of the same suit.
- Spoons. Spoons is a fun game because bluffing is involved. The objective is to gather four cards of the same kind and not be the last one to get the spoon.
- Hearts. This classic game can be compared to Bridge or spades. Four players are involved in a quest to earn the least number of points.
